Description
Short story:
The PZL P.24 was the most famous Polish fighter aircraft of the 1930s in the world. It was built together with prototypes in Poland, 97 pieces, and 46 under license abroad, i.e. a total of 142 pieces. Romania purchased 5 P.24E with IAR 14K IIc 32 engine and wooden two-blade propeller and 4 hp. and a license for this aircraft. 25 IAR P.24E were built in the Romanian IAR factory in Brasov in 1939-1940. These planes were used in squadrons 41, 59, 60, 61 and 62. They had numbers from 1 to 30 on the empennage. They were painted green and until 1941 they had three-color identification marks - circles. From mid-1940, they received a three-color camouflage (the bottom of the aircraft remained light blue) and in 1941 new recognition marks - the crosses of St. Michael. The planes fell into disuse in 1944. The only surviving exemplar is in a museum in Turkey.
